Many people always inquire about the clutch wear on the F1 tranny's. Here are my current numbers.
I purchased my car with 4,900 miles and 11% wear on the clutch. I now have 16,023 miles (high mileage car) and 17% clutch wear. That's 6% wear in the last 11,000+ miles. The clutch's are strong if you drive the car correctly. :)
I had very similar results with my last 360. :)

You drive very well, one might even say you drive by the seat of your skirt. :D
I just replaced the clutch in my 6-speed 360, the car just turned 10,000 miles and the clutch actually still had a bit more then 50% of it's life, but the springs were weak, the throw-out bearing problematic and we found something bizarre: the flywheel actually got so hot that the metal literally melted as if it were smeared!! (Thanks Armen!) We had to replace the flywheel, but at least we upgraded to a 6-bolt flywheel and Stradale clutch! :D

Yeah, it sounds like too many 1/4 mile starts. :D

I love this topic, no two cars are the same, TCU's and driving effect a lot of things. I have seen F1 cars go through clutches in 4k miles, and 3 pedal cars go 25k miles. Just like brakes a lot depends on the driver and driving style !
We just had a 25k CS that shows 53% wear. All the new hard parts for 360 clutches are the same as the CS, but in my humble opinion the CS tcu is far superior in terms of clutch management. F430's, 599's and anything since 2003 are great on the clutches. we can adjust the "kiss" point which helps slip and therefore wear/heat build up. But the biggest factor is still the pedal pusher. We put a clutch in a 360 F1 a while back, and the client managed to put 58% wear in 1500 miles !!!!!!!!! He called me saying he could hear a beeping every time he pulled away from a stop in auto mode(he was floooring the throttle and getting the clutch over heat warning), and what was the funny smell ?? Needless to say it was his first F-car and I talked him into selling it. They are not for everyone !!.
The moto to my story is.................. driver beware

It's a pretty big ordeal to get to the clutch to check the wear on it, isn't it?

It takes about a minute to hook up a SD3 machine to get the reading. Pretty easy and painless.

That makes you at least 3x a better driver than the previous owner!

Jon can drive!!!!!!!!!!
I can't wait for Jon to say "I'm teaching my daughter to drive the CS - and she's really got promise".
All I have to say is, if she drives as well as she lights up a room, LOOK OUT! :-) She'll kick dad's butt in no time !
Cheers, Hank
