These aren't recorded in HD in Europe, just some better version of Digital IIRC. :(

What about South America, Asia, North America (Canada) , Australia? and the Middle East?
surely one of them produces in Hi Def.

We know Japan does, they have for years.
and what about European DVB? surely that qualifies as hi-def

maybe not 1080P but a higher def picture with surround sound is not to much to ask!

I can deal with an aspect ratio other then 16 X 9.....just give me some more resolution or scan lines or something!!! (or at the very least....better audio)

I believe the race feed is provided by the FIA, so I don't think the channels that provide the coverage have a choice either way... And, even if they did, it would have to be shown on a channel that had HD, and Speed doesn't have an HD channel, yet anyway..... It would be nice though!

There is hope!
3 MotoGP races were broadcast on network t.v. last year.
The picture quality was as lackluster as the normal Speed episodes.

While I do have sympathy for the striking members of the WGA. Their strike forces networks to find alternate unscripted programming. Where do they find that?
Sports
Game shows
and Reality T.V.

let's hope (the FIA or whomever) can step up and provide a better feed. Now is the time to get the package sold so viewers who are missing their favorite HD shows.

I'm no expert on how networks work, but I'm going to assume that all the deals for this season are already in place and if there are going to be HD ffeds they have already determined that.... There were two or three F1 races on Network TV last year, at least one being on fox and the others I don't remember... But with the USGP being off the schedule this year, that may change... Nevertheless, when it was on Fox, even when the race was in the US, the FIA still controlled the feed, and most other aspects of the race, including the hosts and commentators...

Quoting my own post here:
The industry rumor mill says:
The strike is just about over, a deal has been reached, should be announced soon.

We will see.

I'd be happy to host the Australian G.P. if people don't mind driving out to T.O. I only have a 46" T.V. unless we all want to pile into my bedroom to watch the 50". ;) Let me know if anyone is interested. :) Everyone could come out early for dinner & munchies.

If Speed Channel decides to broadcast the race in HD, we're set. :)

WHADDUP!

Speed actually does have an HD channel now, so I am hoping that the FIA makes an HD available to us here.

Either way, Beau, F1 kickoffparty and viewing - your place or mine?

I am sorry to say,my DLP has had its first problem in 4 years. after 6600 hours of use, the colors do not look right anymore. yellow appears to be pink and all reds are bright red....

perhaps I will have replaced the t.v. by then.... but until that time, it will be at your crib!
